Michael Alford 1931-2009

For more than 30 years Michael served on the parish council and he took a great interest in the allotments, the lifeboat and village history - indeed many photos on this site are from his collection. Michael was a real gentleman and died peacefully on 11th December 2009, at the age of 78.
Picture Added on 22 December 2009.

I knew Michael Alford, he was a very good friend of mine. I knew his mum and wife Sylvia. I send my condolance to his wife. He will be sadly missed

Michael Alford richly deserves to be included in the list of the very best people this earth has ever produced. He was and still is a shining example of courtesy, honesty and trustworthiness and is truly the type of person who makes this world a better place for the rest of us. If I could choose a relative it would be an honour to have you as a brother.

I met Michael over 20 years ago when I was researching the Blue Boulder trade from Rye Harbour, he couldn't do enough for me and gave me access to his archive of period images and also gave unstintingly of his time. A good man and one who will be fondly remembered by all who had the fortune to work with him.
