Check my collection of photos on this subject plus here's some info on it
"William Norton owner of The Red Shed, Rye Harbour, East Sussex.
Mr Norton kindly let me have a look in. He said it was owned by his Uncle before him and it has always been known by the name "Uncle's Shed", first recorded history in a photograph was 1904. He said it has always been used by shrimp catchers but its original use is unknown. He paints it twice a year."

I was told that the shed was owned by a postman who could be part of the Norton family.

Hi I don't know if you have read my piece on Gran's Hut - picture No 178 - but my great Gran either owned or rented the hut for many years. I am very interested to see your comments about a postman as my great uncle, Dave Martin, was the postmaster of Rye and he was my great gran's son in law. I wonder if this is the postman you refer to? He spent many happy hours down in the Hut along with the rest of the family. I would be interested to hear your comments.

Hello Dave, I don't have any more info, however I do have an aunt in Rye, Alice nee Southerden who was alive in 1928, I will ask her if she can add any info.

Hi, My Great Uncle was Gerald Norton and he shared access with one of his brothers. Both now are sadly deceased, but the keys passed down the Norton family, so I believe it is currently with William Norton as Gareth mentioned. We used to come here as kids every summer and I can concur that it was always known as "Uncle's". Fun to see that it's still standing and looks well kept. It's somewhere I haven't been for years, but would like to come back to for some nostalgia!
