Hi, I have been researching my Family History for many years now. I have just discovered that some of my ancestors were connected to the Harbour at Rye/Icklesham and the Lighthouse there.

Lindsay Robertson was born 1814, Woolwich, Kent. On the Census for 1881 he is listed as the Deputy Harbour Master & living in the Harbour Master's house.

Then in 1891 he is listed as the Harbour Lightman.

This site is lovely as there are a few pictures of the old Harbour Master's House and Lindsay must also have used the Lighthouse, also pictured here !
