Map by Monica Edwards
Monica Edwards was an author who lived in the Old Vicarage and based many of her stories in and around Rye (Westling) Harbour. This map is inside the front cover of "Strangers to the marsh" first published in 1957. Do any of the characters relate to real people?

Comments
Charlie Cutting and Crusty Crampton together became the curmudgeonly old ferryman Jim Decks. Bert Hedgler was transformed into the eternal bachelor Fred Downing. The Saunders family became the Deeproses. 'Paraffin' Jo Martin and his 'Silver Bullet' motorcycle became Onion Ed and, most importantly, Monica's father - the Revd Harry Newton - became The Revd Richard Grey. All the books are currently being republished.
